Oct 08, · The CoinMarketCap API provides all the data in the form of a JSON document. Each coin has a designated ID and symbol in the document. For example, the 0th item is Bitcoin, the 1st item is Ethereum, 2nd item is Ripple, and so on. So when you want to know something about Ethereum, you have to access it using the index 1, or the symbol ETH. The CoinGecko data market APIs are a set of robust APIs that developers can use to not only enhance their existing apps and services but also to build advanced crypto market apps. The team is also responsive to feedback and the occasions that we did these were quickly implemented into their api . CoinDesk provides a simple API to make its Bitcoin Price Index (BPI) data programmatically available to others. You are free to use this API to include our data in any application or website as you.

If you can find an API for live euro rates from somewhere then plug that in similarly and multiply the prices. I'll try to check later if euro prices can be imported directly. Hey man, thanks for your answer. I'm also trying to get this to work on my Mac with Excel , but it doesn't have the necessary features to make it work.
Did you figure out a fix? Or is there a sample excel file with the data already in there for several coins that can be downloaded?
Try to download the sample file and see if it works for you. If yes, then just adapt it for your own purpose. If not, then I'm not sure. The concept is fairly straight forward. You'll have to learn how to import an API call into your worksheet.
It also depends on the version you're using. Thats literally why I am posting it. So that people can use an easier method than your time-consuming method. Instead they can just use that one that already has a script installed and works out of the box basically. Thanks for doing it! I've googled before for how to do this before in google sheets and not come up with a decent solution. I came in to the comments to find the post mentioned :.
Any way to get historical prices from coinmarketcap? I can't find a site that graphs percentage returns for different coins on the same graph. Still trying to figure that out. I'm sure you can simply record the price at given intervals and make your own record.
Would have to write a macro or something for it. I don't think that's what you're talking about. Data from I tried using their public API link for the ticker but it keeps giving an error. Even tried to download the JSON file and link that into excel instead of a direct web link and I got the same error.
Not sure what the problem is. Nice guide mate, but why not use this? It is faster if you congregate all of the prices into one using PHP. This is what I do and it is very effective. If anyone has advice on how to get other price tickers into PHP, such as stocks, I am trying to learn that next.
It is pretty simple really. You'll need a website to upload the 4 following PHP documents onto. Make sure to set up config. This one you have to supply with your api key and secret so the exchanges know you are sending query to them they require this to prevent spam. Direct it to your index.
Dont forget to set the excel to refresh the data every 1 minute. Don't forget to name your cells. Click on the cell you want to name, such as the cell that contains the BTCUSD price, then in the top left corner of the spreadsheet where the numbers and ABC's meet there will be a white box containing "A3" or something like that.
This is the name of that cell. You can name it whatever you want and then reference it anywhere in that excel document. That way you arent constantly writing long stuff out like Sheet2! Hey guys if anyone would like to supply me some historical data from the cryptocompare API for payment in ETH please get in touch.
Do you know how to extract the marketcap data of all coins combined from marketcap? I woould like to run some maths on it and compare current bubble with previous bubble in order to get some idea when the bubble is gonna pop. I didn't see it in my Excel either.
I edited my post to add a sample file. See if it works for you. Thank you. Is there a way to find out the prices you bought at in terms of BTC to calculate unrealized or realized profits? Coinmarketcap unfortunately only give it to me in terms of BTC.
Otherwise I also do this manually. I only wonder if its possible to fetch the price from Coinbase, since its mostly their price i compare with. Thank you for this, Do you have any idea how to import private API like my balance on bittrex using the apikey? First before I troubleshoot that error, did you generate your own api key and plug that into the last part of the link where it says [APIKEY]?
I'm in a country that uses a comma instead of a decimal point but the ticker uses a decimal point and my excel doesn't recognize this as a number so I can't multiply the price by tokens owned.

However, in cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology, Public APIs allow you share your assets to the public and make your software open-sourced creating a seamless flow of data to and fro between devices while Private APIs allow you to build internal applications, customer-facing apps with internal assets and creates a shared pool of data and assets.
Also, there are Private and Public API keys required as a means of identification or authentication in order to gain access to your digital assets. A Private key makes use of a customer key which is an authentication protocol and a signature seeded key which is generates a signature on both the server and client.
One will give access to the public while the other will be restrictive; most often, people prefer going for Public APIs rather than Private APIs because they have to post a request to use the platform which could be time-consuming. It is the mechanism in which data are produced through the data tools. All public APIs will give you access to the different kinds of data you need on cryptocurrencies while most private APIs will be restrictive and would rather ask for an access before providing them.
Most sites with APIs have an incomprehensive way of producing information.
